Cosmetic Laser Centers℠ is proud to offer Thermage® skin tightening procedures. Thermage® is a clinically proven, noninvasive treatment designed to tighten the appearance of the skin, by stimulating new collagen production, without the downtime of surgery.
Thermage® uses radiofrequency waves to heat the skin and stimulate collagen production. Collagen breaks down over time. This is why an increase in skin laxity and sagging skin can be appreciated as we age. As collagen production is stimulated by radiofrequency energy, the skin will become tighter in its appearance.
Oftentimes patients will only need one treatment to see improvement. Many patients opt to repeat Thermage® annually to see greater results. This treatment can be done on the face or on the body. Thermage® is non-invasive and requires no downtime.
Pittsburgh Thermage® Skin Treatments
Thermage® uses radiofrequency technology that travels through the surface of the skin and deep into the dermal layer. This causes tightening of the existing collagen fibers and stimulates the production of new collagen.
There are no incisions or downtime associated with Thermage®, so patients do not have to plan time off from their busy schedules. Thermage® CPT™ is safe for patients of all skin types.
The latest Thermage® technology implements patented Comfort Pulse Technology (CPT) which involves gentle vibrations with interspersed cooling to make the RF treatment even more comfortable.
Thermage® Before & Afters
Thermage Question & Answers
Q: What does Thermage® feel like?
A:With each touch of the Thermage® tip, patients will experience a cooling and then brief deep heating as radiofrequency (RF) energy is delivered to their skin and underlying tissues. This deep heating sensation is the indication that collagen is reaching effective temperatures for tightening. To protect the skin and make the treatment more comfortable, the surface of the skin is cooled before, during and after each deliverance of RF energy. The physician or advanced practice provider (CRNP or PA-C) controls the amount of energy delivered to balance patient comfort with maximizing the results.
Q: Do you use a topical or oral pain medication?
A:A topical pain medication is not used because it would eliminate the cooling sensation from the Thermage® CPT tip. Our patients tolerate the treatment well without medication and are able to return immediately to their usual activities.
Q: How does Thermage® work?
A:The Thermage® procedure works by heating up deep collagen fibers in the skin and underlying tissue, while protecting the skins surface with a cooling spray delivered by the treatment tip. The Thermage® hand piece and tip deliver a controlled amount of radiofrequency energy deep beneath the skin with each pulse of the tip. This deep uniform heating causes existing collagen to tighten and new collagen to be created in response to the deep heating process.
Q: What kind of results can I expect?
A: Generally everyone can expect some level of skin tightening. Visible results vary from subtle to dramatic depending upon a patient’s individual response to the RF energy. Generally some degree of tightening is noticed immediately, and continued improvement can be appreciated over the following six months. Patients experience tighter and smoother skin overall, contouring along the jaw line, softening of wrinkles around the mouth and forehead as well as tightening of loose skin under the chin.
Q: How long before I can return to normal activities?
A:Immediately. Patients do not require any special after care following a Thermage® treatment. Some patients experience mild redness, but it commonly disappears quickly. As always, sunscreen should be worn.
Q: Is Thermage® safe?
A: Thermage® has an excellent safety record with over 70,000 procedures worldwide.
Q: How many treatments are needed?
A: Unlike other procedures which often require a series of treatments, most Thermage® patients see results with just one treatment.
Q: How long do results last?
A:The Thermage® procedure stimulates new collagen production for up to six months after treatment. Results can last for years and vary from individual to individual, depending upon their own aging process and environmental exposures (UV, smoking, etc.)
