What Parts of My Body Can Get Fraxel® DUAL Laser Treatments?

Fraxel® DUAL 1550 and 1927 laser treatment uses microscopic laser columns that target sun damage and signs of aging. The lasers penetrate deep into your skin to hasten collagen production in your body.

Because the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, resulting in very rapid healing. Fraxel® DUAL treatment stimulates the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.

Our medical providers can target skin issues on these body parts using Fraxel® DUAL lasers:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Chest or décolletage
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs

These areas of the body are most likely to develop sun or age spots, fine lines, and acne scars.

I Want an Effective Treatment. How Does Fraxel® Perform?

Backed by science and approved by the FDA, Fraxel® technology creates thousands of deep microscopic treatment zones, resulting in renewed, healthy skin. In short, it is very effective!

At Cosmetic Laser Centers, we offer two treatment wavelengths; our team will help you determine the right course of treatment for your skin goals. The numbers 1550 and 1927 indicate the measure of wavelengths in nanometers (nm).

  • The Fraxel® DUAL 1550 nm penetrates deep into the layers of the skin. It is appropriate for the treatment of wrinkles, texture issues, and scars.
  • The Fraxel® DUAL 1927 nm focuses more on the skin’s tone and texture, as well as superficial signs of aging caused by sun damage.

Does the Fraxel® Laser Hurt? What Is Recovery Like?

Most patients report occasional discomfort while undergoing treatment. To help minimize discomfort, we apply a topical anesthetic before treatment begins and use an air-cooling device. Afterward, your skin may feel a sensation similar to having a sunburn. This feeling usually subsides within a couple of days.

After treatment, you may notice some swelling of the treated skin. Swelling usually goes away within three days. You may also notice that your skin appears red or begins to flake or peel after your Fraxel® laser treatment. It can take up to one week for these symptoms to resolve.

To help with recovery, we recommend limiting sun exposure and wearing sun protection should you need to spend time outdoors.

If you have any questions during your recovery period, the team at Cosmetic Laser Centers is here to help.

What If I’m Not a Candidate?

If Fraxel® is not right for you, our medical provider can suggest alternative treatments to help you renew your skin. Our team can design a treatment plan tailored to your goals.

For example, unlike a laser, IPL uses pulsed light to improve signs of photoaging (sun damage), uneven pigmentation, and facial spider veins. IPL is safe for almost everyone, except those with tendencies to develop keloid scars or on photosensitizing medications.
